Patagonia

Patagonia is a California-based outdoor clothing company, founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard. The company's heritage is in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now offer a diverse mix of apparel that caters for skiers, surfers, climbers, hikers and trail runners. Though Patagonia is considered to be an outdoor-specific apparel manufacturer, some of the company's most popular products are general apparel. Patagonia fleeces, rain jackets, and coats are some of the most widely-worn products in the outdoor apparel industry. Patagonia received two National Geographic Adventure Blog "Gear of the Year" awards in 2010 and holds numerous awards from outdoor gear review sites. Patagonia is a major contributor to environmental groups and commits 1% of their total sales or 10% of their profit, whichever is more, to environmental groups.
